Dr. Nicholas Kenning was born and raised in Hutchinson, Kansas. He attended the University of Kansas for his undergraduate studies and earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in biology in 2010. He then attended Creighton University School of Dentistry in Omaha, Nebraska and earned a Doctor of Dental Surgery degree in 2014. Following dental school, he entered residency training in oral and maxillofacial surgery at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota. At Mayo Clinic he earned a Doctor of Medicine degree from Mayo Clinic School of Medicine in 2017 and completed residency training in 2020, earning a certificate in oral and maxillofacial surgery from Mayo Clinic School of Graduate Medical Education.
Dr. Kenning joined Centrasota Oral Surgeons in 2020. He was drawn to the opportunity to practice in a broad-scope group practice distinguished for providing excellent patient care. He has extensive training and experience in all areas of oral and maxillofacial surgery including outpatient anesthesia/sedation, wisdom/impacted tooth extraction, dental implants, bone grafting, facial trauma, facial reconstruction, corrective jaw surgery, temporomandibular joint surgery, and pathology. During school and residency he participated in multiple mission trips and volunteer clinics. Dr. Kenning adheres to the core value of Mayo Clinic, “The needs of the patient come first.”
Dr. Kenning is a member of the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, American College of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, Minnesota Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, American Dental Association, American Medical Association, Minnesota Dental Association, and Minnesota Medical Association. While in residency he presented at the national level on dental implants placed into reconstructed jaws.
Dr. Kenning’s wife Kristen practices as a general dentist at the Saint Cloud VA Health Care System. They are proud parents to their son and daughter and are excited to raise a family in beautiful Central Minnesota. Dr. Kenning enjoys all outdoor activities, particularly fishing, hunting, downhill skiing, and live music.
