Donald M. Primley, DDS, MS

Dr. Donald Primley was born in Green Bay, Wisconsin and grew up in Hayward, Wisconsin. He attended the University of Wisconsin, Eau Claire receiving a B.S. degree in 1973. He received his D.D.S. degree from Marquette University School of Dentistry in Milwaukee, Wisconsin in 1979. Dr. Primley was commissioned with the U.S. Navy and completed a one-year General Practice Residency with surgical emphasis at Oak Knoll Naval Hospital in Oakland, California. Adak, Alaska and Newport, Rhode Island were Dr. Primley’s next duty stations. In 1984 he was the top Naval candidate for oral surgery training and was selected to enter a civilian training program for Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, which he completed at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, receiving an M.S. degree in 1987. He subsequently entered a two-year assignment aboard the aircraft carrier, USS John F. Kennedy, home ported in Norfolk, Virginia. He then served as the department head at the Jacksonville Naval Hospital in Florida.

Dr. Primley joined Centrasota Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons in 1990. He ended active duty and joined the Naval Reserves. Captain Primley ended his Naval career with 23 years of service in June 2003. Dr. Primley is board-certified by the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons and enjoys practicing the full scope of oral and maxillofacial surgery with a special interest in implantology, having placed implants since 1985. He began and has been the director of the Great River Study Club, which provides continuing education for dental professional members with an emphasis on implant restorative dentistry. He also has been the director of an implant mini-residency course held each year for dentists to gain knowledge in treatment planning and restoration of dental implants.

While maintaining a busy clinic schedule, Dr. Primley has been very active in hospital, dental and civic activities. He has served as chairman of the Department of Dentistry at St. Cloud Hospital, president of the St. Cloud Dental Society, and president of the Minnesota Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons. He also has served in numerous capacities at his church.

Dr. Primley is married to Sandra Primley and has three grown children. He is quite active in the shooting sports of archery and sporting clays, and he enjoys upland bird hunting and archery big game hunting. Having been born in Green Bay, he claims to have green-and-gold blood as most die-hard Green Bay Packer fans do.
