Gustavo Pena, DDS, MS
Dr. Gustavo Pena was born in Colombia, South America, where he spent his early formative years. After completing a high school education, he attended La Pontificia Universidad Javeriana, earning a dental degree in 1985. He completed a one-year General Practice Residency at St. Agnes Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland followed by completion of his USA dental education at the University of Iowa College of Dentistry, receiving his D.D.S. degree in 1991. Dr. Pena attended the Oral and Maxillofacial Residency program at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, receiving a M.S. degree in 1995.
Dr. Pena joined Centrasota Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons in 1995. He is certified by the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons and enjoys practicing the full scope of oral and maxillofacial surgery with special interests in orthognathic (jaw) surgery, geriatric oral surgery and overall patient care. Dr. Pena has given lectures to the local and state dental professional community on the treatment of the geriatric dental patient.
While maintaining a busy clinic schedule, Dr. Pena has been very active in hospital, dental and civic activities. He has served as chairman of the Department of Dentistry at St. Cloud Hospital.
Dr. Pena enjoys sharing his Latin culture through music and dance and currently serves as a member of the Fine Arts Programming Advisory Council at the College of St. Benedict & St. John's University. He also enjoys racquetball, Taekwondo, soccer, bowling, and indoor volleyball.
